Happy Forget-Me-Not Day!
Origin
There are two ways to interpret this random holiday. Forget-Me-Not Day is a day to remember the important people in your life and remind them that they are not forgotten. It is also a day that celebrates the bright, simple little flower, the Forget-Me-Not! The little blue flower can sometimes be overlooked for the more fancy flowers, and it’s kind of symbolic if you compare it to friendships that can be neglected and overlooked, as beautiful and simple as they may be. Today is a great day for remembering friends and slowing down to recognize the little things in life, like Forget-Me-Nots.
How to Celebrate
Call up an old friend or a family member that you haven’t heard from for a while. Remember why they are important to you, and share some fond memories. Life gets so busy sometimes and it is easy to let a friendship fade just simply because time passes. If a phone call seems like too much, write them a note! Yes, we’re talking traditional snail mail. When was the last time you actually wrote a letter to someone? There is something that is so much more personal and meaningful about a physical letter, even if it is just something short and sweet. Emails are so easy and can easily be passed up in a cluttered inbox. I know that for me, nothing brightens my day more than getting a personal letter or card in the mail! Let someone that is special to you know that they have not been forgotten.
