Someone offered to pay out of pocket for a “Happy Endings” movie and that sounds ah-MAZ-ing

Do you wake up every morning all excited and joyous, and then realize there’ll never be a new episode of Happy Endings, and that thought slowly sinks in, and you contemplate climbing back into bed and spending all day under the covers, mourning the loss of one of the best post-Friends TV shows ever? Yeah, been there, done that, multiple times over the last few years.

Happy Ending’s too-soon ending is still tough to think about. Clearly, the only rational explanation it is that Happy Endings was simply TOO GOOD for this world, and couldn’t walk among us mere mortals forever. The show’s impressive all-star cast—Elisha Cuthbert, Damon Wayans, Jr., Eliza Coupe, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, and Casey Wilson—have gone on to do just as funny things, but nothing will ever be Happy Endings. All we can hope for is that somehow, someway, in some form, it comes back.

And today, there’s news that it might come back. This is a very small tiny might, but hey, anything is better than nothing. According to Wilson, who played the forever-single Penny, someone actually offered to fully fund a Happy Endings movie, because they miss the Steak Me Home Tonight truck just as much as we do!

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Wilson explained that a very rich, and very anonymous, dude called Happy Ending’s creator (and Wilson’s husband) David Caspe and stated, “‘I’m a private investor, I would love to pay for a movie’ … we were like, OK… now private citizens are coming off the streets [to bring Happy Endings back]!”

Wilson was then quick to mention that “the funds have not [arrived] in our account yet,” but if they do, she’d gladly bring Penny back in a heartbeat.

And this, of course, all means that the idea of HAPPY ENDINGS COMING BACK IS ALIVE AND WELL TODAY. Today’s a great day!
