Happy Chocolate Cake Day!

January 27th is Chocolate Cake Day!

Why Celebrate?

Personally, I’m not a huge cake person. Don’t get me wrong, I have a ginormous sweet tooth. But I like to think that I am selective about my desserts. So, when it comes to cake, there is really just one flavor that I can’t resist, and that’s chocolate.

One might argue that chocolate anything is delicious, and I would be inclined to agree. But something about chocolate cake is unique. The consistency of that fluffy, light, yet decadent cake just seem to defy the laws of nature. Paired with a cup of coffee, tea, or a tall, cold glass of milk, and you’re set. It is a simple, classic, and yet sometimes overlooked dessert, so today, chocolate cake, we celebrate you.

How to Celebrate

There are about a million and two chocolate cake recipes online. The traditional chocolate sheet cake, the double chocolate layer cake, German chocolate cake, chocolate fudge cake, black forest cake, dark chocolate cake… (If your mouth isn’t watering right now, someone should check your vitals.) There are also many gluten free options that look just as delicious. And if you aren’t so inclined to bake a cake from scratch, your local grocery store’s baking aisle has quite a few easy options for your convenience. You literally have no excuse to not make a chocolate cake today. There, I said it.

Quote of the Day

“Let’s face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me.”
Audrey Hepburn
