A ‘Hannah Montana’ Fan on TikTok Spotted This Plot Hole, and Our Minds Are Blown

We realize that everybody makes mistakes, and everybody has those days. But right now we’re feeling like we’ve been stuck in of those days since…2006. How in the sweet niblets have we been so blind? In a June 14th TikTok video captioned “THE BIGGEST PLOT HOLE IN CINEMATIC HISTORY,” TikTok user Ky Klunder draws our attention to the fact that the creators of Hannah Montana pulled a major fast one on us—and we didn’t notice until right now.

Klunder explains how absurd it is that none of the other characters in the show made the link that Robby Ray Stewart (played by Billy Ray Cyrus) was father to both Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus), thus proving that Miley and Hanna are one and the same. 

Beginning her verbal mind map, Klunder states, “Robby Ray Cyrus was Miley Stewart’s dad. We know this because Rico goes to their house and says, ‘Miley and Jackson, I need to talk to your dad because my grandma’s a big fan of old, washed-up country singers. Can I please have his autograph?’ Common knowledge that the old country singer is Robby Ray…is Miley and Jackson’s dad.”

She continues, “Fast forward to the Jonas Brothers episode. The Jonas Brothers say, ‘Oh, my gosh. You’re Robby Ray, you write all the songs.’ And Hannah Montana says, ‘Yup, my dad, Robby Ray, the old country singer, writes all the songs.'”

“Fast forward to the…Silver Booty Award,” Klunder goes on. “Hannah Montana wins it. Robby Ray says, ‘I’m so excited to give this to my daughter because I won it so many years ago.'”

And here comes the punchline: “Robby Ray, the famous country singer, was both Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana’s dad, and nobody ever put it together!”

There’s really nothing we can say but, wow do we feel silly. As someone in the comments of the video, which has garnered well over 2 million views, pointed out, “THEY HAD HIM WEAR THAT MUSTACHEEE! It was his ‘disguise,’” to which another person yelled back, “WHY DID THEY DO THAT IF HE WAS ALWAYS FAMOUS.”

This is a plot hole we’re all going to have to sit with for a while. Ponder it, let it sink in, and then do your best to move forward.
