There might be a Han Solo *trilogy* — but instead, can we just get three Lando movies?
Han Solo might be a scruffy-looking nerf-herder on occasion, but Solo: A Star Wars Story star Alden Ehrenreich is anything but. The Solo actor revealed that a Han Solo trilogy might be on the way, and while that’s not bad news, why not do three Lando movies instead? Don’t get us wrong, a Han Solo prequel trilogy would be fun AF, but we’d love to keep the party going with a Lando Calrissian trilogy, too, please.
Considering we lost Han Solo in The Force Awakens*sob*, knowing that we get at least one more film with Mr. Solo is great. And a potential Han Solo trilogy, which Esquire broke, could give fans everything they might not get in Solo, but we know we want a Lando trilogy ASAP. Donald Glover as Lando is like 10 fire emojis in a row. He’s got the outfits, the swagger, and the intrigue to back it all up.
Launching a new trilogy specifically about the exploits of young Lando Calrissian that could feature major players from the rest of the galaxy? Now we’re cooking. Think of how long it took to sell fans on the concept of a different actor playing Han Solo for the first time since the series debuted in 1977. Now, compare it to the rich passion everyone feels when seeing Lando 2.o.
To be fair, Donald Glover is a really busy dude.
He’s creating, directing, and starring in Atlanta on FX, for which he won a Golden Globe award. He’s hosting Saturday Night Live soon *and* performing as the musical guest, Childish Gambino. And did you know that he also wrote the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah song from 30 Rock? He’s a genius. A foxy, devilish genius, and he’s so perfect for the role of Young Lando Calrissian.
Plus, we hope we will, but we can’t say for sure that we love Solo just yet, so the need for a full-on Han Solo trilogy is up in the air. But the need for three separate movies featuring Donald Glover and that tremendous mustache is real.
