Welp, Emilia Clarke is already hinting her character’s going to die in the Young Han Solo movie

Most of us know Emilia Clarke from her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but she’s leaving behind the Seven Kingdoms and her race toward the Iron Throne for the time being to get into some intergalactic trouble in a galaxy far, far away. Clarke will play Qi’ra in the new Star Wars film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. And while we’re stoked to see her in this new world, we’re concerned about the fate of her character. After all, Han Solo never talks about Qi’ra in the original trilogy or in The Force Awakens.

So…what does that mean for Qi’ra?

While Clarke obviously can’t confirm or deny anything major, she definitely dropped some hints in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Qi’ra might be meeting the end of a blaster. When asked about her character, Clarke said that Qi’ra was a tough one to fully know, but that since Qi’ra is nowhere to be seen in Episodes IV-VII, “something must have happened.”

Um, is she trying to get us ready for her character’s death?

Solo is being called a bit of a film noir-style mystery, with Qi’ra filling the “femme fatale” role. And while her death seems, at the very least, probable, Clarke said something else in the interview that made us wonder if maybe she doesn’t actually die, but isn’t in Han’s life because she betrayed him. Clarke called the world in which Solo takes place sordid and dark after all…

And when she mentioned Qi'ra she said, "Twists happen, and there is this great idea of trust — and who do you trust and how do you trust? And which side of the tracks are either character from — or going to?"

YIKES.

We certainly don’t want to see Qi’ra die (considering how much we love Dany, we’ll probably start rooting for Qi’ra pretty quickly), but it almost might be worse if she ends up betraying Han. After all, Qi’ra and Han Solo are supposed to be childhood friends. How awful would it be to see Han’s childhood pal get swept up by the baddies? Though, it *would* certainly explain why Han was so slow to agree to align with the Rebellion and care for anyone other than himself in A New Hope…

…and we always love some good backstory.

Okay, now we’re getting worried about what’s in store for both Qi’ra and Han, but either way, we can’t wait to see the Young Han Solo movie. Between Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich as Mr. Solo himself, and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Solo is going to be amazing. We’ll be ready to take it all in when the film hits theaters on May 25th.
