Hamilton is going to hit the big screen, and all of the original cast is on board

Hamilton fans, “The Story of Today” is an exciting one indeed. The beloved musical is singing its way from the stage to a big screen near you. Oh, and it gets even better—the original Broadway cast members will be reviving their roles, so you can watch the OG Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr go head-to-head in a movie theater.

Today, February 3rd, writer and star of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, tweeted an announcement that Disney will be producing a film version of the musical, dubbing it #Hamilfilm.

"Disney presents: Hamilton. With The Original Broadway Cast. Filmed onstage at The Richard Rodgers Theatre. In A Theater Near You. October 15, 2021," Miranda wrote. YES!

This news really did “Blow Us All Away” because the original cast hasn’t taken the Richard Rodgers Theatre stage together since 2016. But on October 15th, 2021, we get to watch them sing, dance, laugh, and cry together again (and we’ll be doing the same from our movie theater seats, tbh).

If you haven’t had the chance to see the musical live, now you can watch the story play out on a screen in front of you, with Lin-Manuel Miranda himself reviving the iconic role of Alexander Hamilton.

True fans who know every word to the soundtrack will love singing along to each song, and we have a feeling that movie theaters are going to feel like Broadway theaters, with audiences cheering and giving standing ovations. It’s sure to be the next best thing to seeing the show live, and “That Would Be Enough” for us. “Wait For It”—we’re about to be anticipating #Hamilfilm Non-Stop until October 15th, 2021.
