The “Hamilton” mixtape is about to change your life

If you haven’t gotten into the musical Hamilton, that’s fine. But for those of you who are deeeeep into the best musical cast album of the modern era, prepare yourself: There’s gonna be an all-new album of remixes and covers called The Hamilton Mixtape.

The original Hamilton cast album has been lauded for its heavy hip-hop influences and style — a good portion of the dialogue is rapped. But in a gift to popular music and musical theater fans everywhere, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and The Roots member/album executive producer Questlove has announced that the remix will feature a mélange of artists from Busta Rhymes to Regina Spektor.

The Hamilton Mixtape (which is not to be confused with the Miranda-only The Hamilton Mixtape, which was the seed origin of the musical) is scheduled to drop later this year, though there’s no exact date yet. That means that we have plenty of time to imagine that artist/song pairings they’ll put together. Chance the Rapper for “My Shot”! Busta Rhymes for “Guns and Ships”! “Queen Latifah for “Satisfied”!!! How lucky we are to be alive right now.
