“Hamilton” and the “Friday Night Lights” creators have a new musical series “Drama High,” and we can’t wait!

What did we do to deserve this? The producer of Hamilton is pairing up with the creator of Friday Night Lights for a new NBC musical drama called Drama High. The creative minds between two of our favorite things of all time are coming together, for US? Man, we’re lucky.

Former Parenthood, About a Boy, and Friday Night Lights showrunner Jason Katims will write the pilot…

…while Hamilton duo Flody Suarez and Jeffrey Seller will produce.

Based on the book Drama High by Michael Sokolove and the life rights of Lou Volpe, the show is inspired by a true story.

Centering around a working-class high school drama department and the students who come alive under a passionate teacher and family man whose dedication to the program galvanizes the entire town, it sounds like it’s being developed for our very own sensibilities.

Drama (of the theatrical sort)! Music! Drama (of the high school sort)! We haven’t even seen it yet, but we know we’re already fangirls.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katims currently serves as showrunner on CBS’ Pure Genius, a freshman medical drama. He also executive produces Hulu’s The Path, in which our heartthrob Aaron Paul stars. Might there be a part for him in Drama High? Then we’d really grovel in gratitude. C’mon TV Gods. Make it happen.
