Halsey, Logic, Khalid, and more are teaming up to send an important message on World Suicide Prevention Day

World Suicide Prevention Day is on September 10th. And it kicks off National Suicide Prevention Week. This year, celebrities will participate in a campaign called “I’m Listening.” It will air on radio stations on September 10th.

“I’m Listening” is a commercial-free, live broadcast. And its goal is to help end stigmas around talking about mental health.

On the show, medical professionals will speak with people who have been impacted by suicide. Most noteworthy, this will include musicians Halsey, Logic, and Khalid. Especially relevant, Logic and Khalid’s suicide-prevention song, “1-800-273-8255,” moved audiences at the 2017 VMAs. And Logic thanked audiences. Why?

For allowing him "to talk about something that mainstream media doesn't want to talk about."

Furthermore, Halsey has also used her fame to speak about mental health.

Halsey has spoken out about her experience with bipolar disorder. Also, she’s talked about her struggles after having a miscarriage. And her suicide attempt at age 17. As a result, Halsey is an advocate for healthcare access.

She says, "I'm listening, and you should too."

And it’s true. We should be listening.

Because suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. In addition, for every suicide, there are at least 25 attempts. And probably more. That’s because of how stifled conversations about suicide are.

There are a lot of other great stars who will participate in “I’m Listening.” And they’re all working to de-stigmatize mental health struggles.

The full lineup includes many guests. First of all, there are musicians. Including Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos and Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld, as well as Evanescence’s Amy Lee and Metallica. Producer Jack Antonoff will participate. Also, so will comedian Kristen Carney.

However, organizers haven’t announced who will be performing (if anyone). Or who will be talking on the panel.

But we know “I’m Listening” will be great. And easy to access.

It’s hosted by Entercom. Which is a radio broadcasting company with stations in almost every state. And it will also stream online.

The show has such an amazing lineup. And it’s for a great cause. Finally, “I’m Listening” will teach us about the kinds of mental health conversations we should be having.
