It’s hard enough to pull together a cute ‘do when the weather is cooperating. But add heat, humidity, and an on-the-go lifestyle to the mix, and it seems almost impossible to keep your hair looking reasonably cute in the summertime. To deal with this ~strand situation~, we went straight to the Kardashian-approved source, hairstylist Scotty Cunha, for advice on how to survive (or at least keep our hair looking perf) in this blazing summer weather.

Before knocking out three of his favorite hairstyles at Mane Addicts University in Los Angeles this week, we chatted with Cunha, the man behind some of your favorite celebs’ red carpet looks. He works regularly with Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie, as well Kristin Cavallari, so you know he’s got those vacay styles on lock.

Cunha broke down his favorite summer hairstyles, and shared a few products that will ease the pain of controlling your summer locks.

And you guys, these styles are so simple you’ll be left with only one dilemma: white or rosé?

Low Bun

“I love a leave-in conditioner or coconut oil if you know you’re going to be at the beach all day. Then, do a chic, wet middle part with the conditioner or oil and put it in a low bun and you’re good to go, and look glam.”

Beach Wave

“If you have a little more time, I love to work with the beach wave. While you’re getting ready, split the hair like you’re going to do pig tails then wrap them away from your face and pin them up with large, open French pins. I call it Princess Leia buns. Let that set while you’re putting your makeup on and when you take it out, you’ll have a relaxed wave.”

High Pony

“I love a good high pony. It’s super simple: Just tip your head over, grab all your hair, and tie it up. Add a little texture spray for a fun, flirty pony.”

Side Braid

“You can never go wrong with a loose, side braid. If your hair is on the wild side, put pomade on your hands — not directly onto your hair because it will get sticky — then, as you’re braiding your hair, the product will keep it in place. I always like to tie it off with a clear elastic.”

Scotty also told us about his go-to summer product…

“The best product that is still going strong is the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray. It’s a classic. It does everything you need it to do. A trick is to spray it into your hands, get them a little sticky and scrunch the hair. If you’re in a rush, you can braid your hair then spray the product directly on. When you take it out, you’ll have a beach wave.”

…and how to get that Kardashian wet-head look.

“If you’re going out, I love good ol’ mousse. While your hair is damp, split your hair into a middle part and drench it with mousse. Then, use a wide-tooth comb to tame it without taking out the curls or creating static.”

Thanks, Scotty! We’re adding coconut oil to our hair routines, stat. And that high pony? It’s now officially on heavy rotation.
