Sure, we’ve seen lobs galore and even Cher hair crop up as the biggest hair trends of years past. But for 2017, conventional hair trends have flown the coup, and edgy, badass tresses seem to be the new hairstyle du jour.

Point in case: the ascension of the platinum blonde buzz cut.

It’s wild. It’s unconventional. And it’s catching on like wildfire. There’s something undeniably appealing about this androgynous silver-fox inspired ‘do. As a matter of fact, trendsetters like Miley Cyrus and Amber Rose have been sporting their own blonde buzzes for years. So we’re not sure which beauty powers decreed that this buzzy blonde hairstyle was the new “it” thing, but we’re on board with it. And by the looks of it, certain celebs just *cannot* get enough of this eye-catching hairstyle either.

Like, for example, Cara Delevingne, who lobbed off her frosty blonde locks to a very cropped pixie before ultimately shaving her hair down *nearly* to the scalp.

Oh, and Kristen Stewart is a ~major~ fan, too. She’s always on the lookout for the next edgy trend, so we’re really more surprised she hasn’t rocked this look before now.

Ahead of Coachella, Katy Perry also took her icy platinum ‘do down a few inches.

And clearly, Zoe Kravitz has been a big fan for some time as well.

What’s more, even Michelle Williams has taken her classic, bright platinum pixie down a notch to edge into buzz cut territory.

As evidenced by the gorgeous faces above, the platinum blonde buzz cut is obviously one of the chicest trends of the moment. And we love its edgy undertones.

Oh, and although we’ll never be one hundred percent sure who planted the seed for this in-vogue hairstyle, we have our guess.

And yep, it’s Zayn Malik’s own blonde buzz from back in 2015. Seriously, look into those dreamy eyes at that hair and tell us we’re wrong. You can’t!
