Hailee Steinfeld’s music video just dropped and it’s the stuff dreams are made of
When Hailee Steinfeld released her single “Love Myself” last week, we thought there was no way we could be any more obsessed with it. Until she dropped the music video. The video premiered on the Today show yesterday, and it takes independence and empowerment to the next level.
The song itself is kick-ass, repeating this mantra in the chorus:
I can’t think of a better message to send to young girls!
The main feature of the video is a mirror with the hashtag #LOVEMYSELF printed on the glass. As Hailee sings the song that by now we know and love, we watch what appears to be real footage of people passing by, discovering the mirror and strutting their stuff. It’s awesome. Just take a look:
A year ago, you may have only known Hailee as the young actress who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in True Grit. But it seems like now, you can’t look anywhere without her doing something awesome. We got our first taste of her amazing voice during her role as Emily in Pitch Perfect 2 (which, btw, she’s set to reprise in the third installment!) as well as her pop-star abilities in her iconic role as The Trinity in Taylor Swift’s infamous Bad Blood music video.
Hailee is working with Republic Records on crafting her first album, along with help from Captain Cuts, Harvey Mason, The Futuristics and Mattman & Robin from MXM. That pretty much sounds like the dream team, and if this first song is any indication, we should expect great things. Is there any way I can pre-pre-pre-order it on iTunes?
