Hailee Steinfeld recreated the “Jingle Bell Rock” scene from “Mean Girls,” and we think The Plastics would be proud

While it’s not officially a Christmas movie, Mean Girls has become a sort of Holiday classic because of one scene. We’re talking about the “Jingle Bell Rock” performance at the talent show. In this scene, Cady Heron and the rest of the ~Plastics~ perform a racy rendition of the classic Christmas jingle. To this day fans all over the world love to recreate this dance during the holidays. Pitch Perfect 3 star Hailee Steinfeld Instagrammed her rendition of the Mean Girls dance, and it sleiggghhhsss (get it? Like slay?). “If you know…you know. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!” the actress/singer captioned her video tribute to the iconic film.

In the video she performs the Mean Girls dance and then collapses to the ground in hysterics. We’re giving Steinfeld bonus points for using the KiraKira app to make this video extra special.

Based on the sparkly mini dress she’s wearing in the video, we think she filmed this backstage on December 14, 2017, when she performed her single “Let Me Go” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Shoutout to saving the video until Christmas Day, that’s some good #content strategy.

Earlier this month, Vine star Lele Pons and some professional dancers recreated the Mean Girls dance complete with costumes and Santa hats. However, these girls remixed the second half of the dance and gave it some hip-hop swagger. Call us old-fashioned, but we’re “Jingle Bell Rock” purists over here.

We love Steinfeld’s version — the only thing missing is Amy Poehler recreating the dance in the audience.

Brb, going to watch Mean Girls for the millionth time.
