Gwyneth Paltrow’s makeup artist has one tip to nailing her iconic “no makeup” makeup look

Whether you’re a fan of her extensive list of movies or are an avid follower of her lifestyle brand Goop, then you definitely know who Gwyneth Paltrow is. Apart from being one of the most famous women in Hollywood for her award-winning roles, she’s also a household name thanks to her wellness brand that has brought us the joys of yoni eggs and luxury clean beauty products. To say she is a pioneer isn’t doing her enough justice.

And what’s nearly as iconic as Paltrow herself? Her beauty routine, of course.

One of Paltrow’s signature styles is her perfect “no makeup”makeup look. We can probably credit her radiance and chiseled cheekbones to her healthy diet, copious amounts of daily exercise, and good ol’ genetics, but behind most naturally glowing face in Hollywood there is a great makeup artist. Enter: Gucci Westman. She is Paltrow’s go-to makeup artist (as well as a favorite of Jennifer Aniston and Hailey Bieber), and she’s the founder of her eponymous luxury clean beauty brand, Westman Atelier.

Over the years, Westman has nailed Paltrow’s subtle makeup look, and she says that it’s all about enhancing, not covering. “Her natural features lend to enhancing and not a full-on makeover—you don’t want to transform,” Westman told HelloGiggles. “I like to boost her skin’s warmth, and I love her little freckles, so I don’t cover those up too much.”

Another tip Westman has for creating Paltrow’s famed natural look: Stick to Earth tones when applying makeup. “Really stick with earth tones. Warm up your skin a bit first—especially during the colder months,” she says. “It’s nice, even if you’re fair, to cut the effects of a colder climate with some warmth to the skin.” Westman recommends using a tinted highlighter, like her Westman Atelier Super Loaded Tinted Highlight in Peau de Soleil, to add a warm earth tone with a radiant glow to the skin.
