Gwyneth Paltrow is totally featured on the new Coldplay track

We were really sad to hear that Coldplay’s next album, A Head Full Of Dreams, might be their last, but also SUPER pumped to learn that Beyonce’s featured on it. (YAAAS.) And it turns out she’s not the only non-Coldplay star to be featured on the album. In fact, Gwyneth Paltrow is on their latest track, “Everglow.”

Recently, Coldplay’s Chris Martin appeared on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio to explain the inspiration behind the song — and hint as to why he chose to feature Gwyneth, his long-time partner of over ten years until their divorce in April of this year. It all started in the ocean, Chris explained.

We’ve all experienced Chris’s definition of everglow — that bittersweet feeling that can only come from a past memory that we hold dear, the intermingling of happy memories and sadness that those memories are long gone. Chris also told Q Magazine that Gwyneth also wrote a line in the song: How come things move on / How come cars don’t slow.

“She came up with the idea so I said, ‘Is there any chance you’d sing that line cos it’s your idea,’” Chris told Q Magazine. “Like any human, she was like, ‘I can’t do that! I’m not a professional!’”

Gwyneth and Beyonce aren’t the only people to be featured on the new album. We’ll hear snippets of his kids, his current girlfriend Annabelle Wallis, and even vocals from three-year-old Blue Ivy (when Bey was in the studio recording). “With this one we’re trying to do our whole spectrum,” Chris told The Wall Street Journal earlier this month. “The colors we’re missing within the band we tried to bring in with guests and other producers.”

It’s a beautiful concept, and we can’t wait to hear the album in its entirety. Until then, you can listen to “Everglow” here.
