This guy recreated some of Carrie Bradshaw’s most famous looks and it’s iconic
We’ve all had dreams of wearing some of the outfits from Sex and the City, but this one guy has taken it upon himself to recreate some of Carrie Bradshaw’s most famous looks and we can’t stop screaming “YAS!”
While it’s fun to imagine what it would be like if SatC had been set today with social media and online dating apps (in fact, perhaps a new movie could answer those questions for us, eh?), part of what made Sex and the City such an iconic show was the fashion. Of course, some of the clothes haven’t aged too well, but much of what our four favorite Manhattan women wore during the show’s tenure will forever be locked inside our heads and ALWAYS on our style inspo-boards.
However, now one guy has made all of our (and his) dreams come true by re-creating some of Carrie Bradshaw’s most iconic looks and it’s F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!
As Cosmopolitan report, 32-year-old New Yorker Dan Clay decided to make his Instagram account public after sharing a photo of his halloween costume. Dressed as Carrie Bradshaw, the strategy and innovation consultant’s picture quickly got picked up by a Sex and the City fan account. The picture was then liked by none-other than Sarah Jessica Parker herself.
"I have wanted to be Carrie Bradshaw for Halloween ever since college, when I had HBO in my frat room and girls would come over and watch Sex and the City on Sundays and I would pretend that I hated it because I didn't want to give myself away," Clay wrote on Instagram. "Well, the secret's out, and this is the happiest day of my life."
S-L-A-Y that look! In fact, Cosmo reports, Clay actually ordered the tutu from SatC costume designer, Patricia Fields’s, online store!
Nicknaming his Instagram alter-ego Carrie Dragshaw, Clay has started to share more and more picture of himself dolled up like Carrie and we’re IN LOVE with them.
"I'm watching Sex and the City the way people read James Joyce," Clay told Cosmo. "I'm analyzing the sentence structure, like deconstructing how she asks questions."
Clay has said that while he doesn’t plan to give up his day job to become Carrie Bradshaw (or Dragshaw) full time, he plans to take “one heel step at a time.” However, given that his Instagram account has grown from 900 followers to nearly 14,000 (including Carrie Bradshaw herself, Sarah Jessica Parker), we’re pretty sure that we’ll see more and more of Carrie Dragshaw as time goes on.
You can follow Dan Clay’s (aka Carrie Dragshaw) adventures on Instagram.
