This guy accidentally skied off a cliff, and the footage will steal your breath
Purposely participating in extreme winter sports is one thing, but accidentally flying off a snow-covered cliff is quite another, which is precisely what happened to skier Devin Stratton. According to The Washington Post, Stratton is a 25-year-old fishing instructor who decided to ski the slopes at Wasatch Range in Utah last week, when he suddenly plummeted off an unmarked 150-foot cliff.
As he confirmed on Instagram, Stratton miraculously walked away from the fall with no bruises. Oddly enough, he also admits to having a fear of heights, which undoubtedly made this death-defying incident all the more terrifying. Thanks to a GoPro camera Stratton’s sister gave him a couple of years ago, there’s footage of the fall and his landing, which was padded by his backpack and two and a half feet of snow.
"Turns out I am afraid of heights," Stratton captioned the social media post. "Miraculously I didn't even have a bruise! I did break a lot of gear including my helmet. Thanks to Matt for helping me dig for nearly 5 hours I found my lost ski and skied down. "#jerryoftheday," he added, poking fun at his accident.
Sheesh, guys. If you didn’t already know it, winter sports are seriously hardcore. First there was the snowboarder who got caught in an avalanche and now this! Our hearts can’t take it.
After seeing those two scary incidents go down, we’d much rather participate an alternative winter sport that doesn’t involve dropping off extremely high mountain ledges or being buried beneath a sliding wall of snow.
