‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Sarah Drew says at times her “heart breaks” as a working mom
All things considered, women are able to achieve more than ever before in this century. Of course that doesn’t come without setbacks. Grey’s Anatomy star Sarah Drew recently pointed out that life is tough for all moms, but even the thrill of Hollywood success can take its toll.
Seems like no matter what you do, someone is going to shame you for your actions. In essence women are constantly trying to fit molds set up by society. Young women are being judged for choosing not to have children. Additionally, mothers are criticized for having children and a career. And as Sarah Drew points out, sometimes your harshest critic happens to just be yourself.

Sarah Drew knows even a great life can be tough.
For the most part, the photo above seems to show Sarah to be part of a perfect nuclear family. Together with her kids and her husband, they are the picture of the American Dream. But what people do not get to see is the mixed emotions that Sarah experiences on a daily basis. Sarah Drew loves her family — as shown above — but Sarah also loves being a working mom.

In an interview with People, Sarah shares exactly how she feels about balancing work and being a mother.
“I will say there are times when my daughter reaches for the nanny before she reaches for me, and my heart breaks a little. But I really, really love my job. I’m a much more present mom because I go and do something that I love a lot. I come home refreshed and energized to be mom. So it’s an interesting balance. I think I’m going to be challenged by it forever, and I welcome that challenge.
In short, Sarah Drew is brave for speaking up about being a working mom. Loving your career does not make you worse mother. If anything, it can help you appreciate your time with your kids even more! Being a mother doesn’t mean giving up your own passions — it means finding a way to open up your world to more possibilities.
