Hot Topic’s new “Gotham Knights” collection is straight out of our formalwear dreams
If you can believe it, prom season is almost upon us. That means, it’s time to go out and find the *perfect* outfit to wear for the big night, and if you’re looking for something a little unconventional — but still super amazing – Hot Topic has just rolled out a brand new line of formalwear. Specifically, DC Comics formalwear.
Do you want to go to prom in a Wonder Woman dress? The answer is YES (invisible jet to take you to prom, not included).
The collection looks like it was designed for a night out-on-the-town in everyone’s favorite crime-ridden fictional city, Gotham. You also have the option of dressing like the good guys (Wonder Woman, Batman), or the not-so-nice-guys (Harley Quinn, Catwoman).
“Our customers have been asking for geek-fandom formal attire for quite some time, so we are really excited to debut this upscale collection, said Cindy Levitt, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Hot Topic, explained in a press release. “At first glance, customers will see a beautiful gown or jacket – and those in the know will see so much more!
Like, take for example, the Catwoman dress. At first glance it just looks like a dress with silver embellishments — but actually, it’s the ~hand-stitching~ of her comic look.
The Batman dress has lil’ BATS!
The Poison Ivy dress is the one long dress of the collection, completely with ivy tulle at the bottom.
And the dress you’ve been waiting for: Harley Quinn.
The collection is available now in stores and online and retails between $99-$110 for these dresses (if you’re looking for the dude options, for button-up shirts and ties, those will run you around the $50 mark). All items are in regular and plus sizes and it’s basically a guarantee that you’ll waltz into prom looking like you just saved the city.
