Yikes! This latest “GoT” theory explains how these two characters *could* be getting married!
We’ve still got a bit of a wait until Game of Thrones is back on our screens. Likewise, we’re not 100% sure that we’re going to be getting the much teased and highly anticipated sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, any time soon.
By now, the popular fantasy TV show has surpassed the books when it comes to chronology, and we can’t wait for the show to return for season seven, even if we are getting a shorter season and the fact that it’s airing slightly later than anticipated. Likewise, while we obvs want GoT on our screens all the time, we’re hardly wishing away the time as it’s also been announced that the show’s eighth season will in fact be its last.
Given, then, that we have a small amount of time to re-watch the whole show from the beginning and re-read at least a few of the books before the show returns (what? They’re REALLY long), it does mean that we have time for some glorious fan theories and speculation.
And this latest fan theory literally has our minds BLOWN.
As Time originally reported, this theory claims that there’s a real possibility that Sansa Stark and Jon Snow could legit get married.
**WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW**
Basically, since Sansa and Jon reclaimed Winterfell from the slightly psychopathic Ramsay Bolton, and Jon was proclaimed the King of the North, things could be getting pretty interesting…They could be getting married.
According to prolific GoT vlogger, Alt Shift X, the pair are destined to be together because of a little titbit from George R.R. Martin’s prequel stories A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. In a new video, Alt Shift X claims that all of Sansa’s suitors and husbands have corrolated to the houses of the five champions named in the Ashford Tournament from the prequel story.
While some discrepancies have occurred due to the slight differences between the books and the TV series, there is a pretty convincing argument here. According to the five champions, the last house to be mentioned is the Targaryens. Sansa has yet to be betrothed to a Targaryen (yet…).
Since it was revealed that Jon Snow was in fact the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, it’s extremely possible that the Targaryen that Sansa could end up marrying (if you believe the theory that her relationships match to the five champions) Jon. Yes, that would mean that Jon was marrying his cousin, but this is Westeros and weirder things have happened.
Of course, Alt Shift X’s speculations could be completely wrong, but you should totally watch his video and see if you’re convinced by his theory…
