Breaking out the markers, the official ‘Game of Thrones’ coloring book is coming

Alright, confession time: I love coloring books. They’re fun and stress-relieving and when I’m having a bad day, I know I can fill up a few Dora the Explorer pictures and feel totally accomplished. But as much as I love scribbling in pictures of Backpack and The Map, I have always craved a coloring book that was better tailored to adults.

Thankfully, George R.R. Martin has stepped in to solve the problem. Earlier this week, Bantam announced that they would be releasing a Game of Thrones-themed coloring book. Under the supervision of Martin himself, the company aims to create a sophisticated coloring book and will even feature drawings from famous artists like Yvonne Gilbert, John Howe, Tomislav Tomic, Adam Stower, and Levi Pinfold. The book, which will hopefully be released sometime in autumn, is set to include almost 50 images of the Westeros world, including characters, specific locations, and “iconic images.” (Fingers crossed for a direwolves page.) Considering the popularity of other “adult” coloring books on the market now, the Game of Thrones version is bound to be a bestseller.

With the show’s season finale coming up and the sixth book currently in progress, Game of Thrones fans are going to have a lot of time on their hands over the next few months. What better way to pass the hours than by coloring in Sansa Stark’s red locks or scenes from the Battle of Blackwater disaster or Tyrion drinking wine? If you really can’t wait until fall, there’s already an unofficial online coloring book. Go crazy, you have my permission.
