These gorgeous throwback photos of Dame Maggie Smith are a reminder of how fabulous she’s been forever
As one of the greatest actors ever, let’s just agree that Dame Maggie Smith is an icon, yes? In fact, it’s REALLY HARD to pick a favorite Dame Maggie Smith role. There’s her Dowager Countess in Downton Abbey, Professor McGonagall in all the Harry Potter films, or her turn as the title character in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie to name a few. She’s been nominated for an Academy Award six times (with TWO wins), won like a billion BAFTA’s, and was appointed a Dame of the British Empire (basically, the lady-equivalent of a knighthood).
Need we say more about how amazing and fabulous Dame Maggie is?!
Sure! Because we love her that much. So, here’s a fun look at some throwback photos to remind you just how fabulous this amazing woman has been, basically, forever!
Looking like the chicest girl at the party in a fabulous velvet gown at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London, 1962.
An adorable photoshoot from 1963.
It looks like she may be mid-scene here in 1965, but that updo and perfectly crisp dress shirt are A+++.
The hair, the scarf, and those TO-DIE-FOR lashes in 1970!
Queen of our hearts then and now.
Dame Maggie Smith has been fabulous throughout her entire career, and no doubt, we’ll continue to love everything she does. Keep slaying, Maggie!
