Gluten free and paleo Thanksgiving side dishes because who needs stuffing?

Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays, because you primarily celebrate it by eating. A lot. What’s better than a seasonally mandated excuse to indulge? However, if you have dietary restrictions or preferences, it can be difficult to plan a Thanksgiving meal that’s paleo, vegan, or gluten-free friendly. While you still might have to figure out on your own what you’re going to use in place of the turkey, we’ve scoped out five amazing sides and deserts to add to your Thanksgiving festivities. All of them are some combination of paleo, gluten-free, and vegan (and the ones that aren’t vegan can easily be made vegan).

1. Paleo Pumpkin and Chive Biscuits

Two very simple questions. Is there any better fall flavor than pumpkin? Is there any other side dish than a biscuit? Answer to both of these things is a hearty NO, so these are obviously the answer to all of life’s problems.

2. Sriracha Sweet Potatoes

A fun, spicy twist on a classic Thanksgiving side dish, these can be made vegan and dairy free if you substitute the mayo with a vegan alternative. Yes, it’s normal if looking at this recipe made you look like the heart eyes emoji.

3. Dairy Free Butternut Squash au Gratin with Crispy Shallots

Potatoes au gratin are a cozy and familiar side dish, so why not up your Fall game even further and use butternut squash instead. So seasonally, so delicious. Bonus: this recipe is already vegan. That’s right. You’re welcome.

4. Nut Free Pumpkin Spice Macaroons

Do we even need to explain? MACAROONS. PUMPKIN SPICE. Be still our hearts.

5. Caramel Apple Macaroons

See the above only replace “pumpkin spice” with “caramel apple.”

We’re getting hungry just thinking about these.
