Glitter crease is here, and it’s the prettiest makeup trend of the year
Glitter is one of the easiest ways to add instant sparkle to your makeup. It’s pretty and shiny and so much fun to play with. However, smearing it all over your lids can get really messy and isn’t the most sophisticated look. Most of the traditional ways to incorporate glitter into your makeup include using it as an eyeliner, as a highlight, or in your mascara. If you want to up your glitter game though, you can add it into your cut crease for a refined and gorgeous look. That’s right, a glitter cut crease. Look how pretty it is:
If you don’t know what a #cutcrease is, let us explain. It’s a eye shadow application technique (popularized by the Kardashians, of course) used to intensify the crease of your eye. You “cut” across the crease of your eye with a contrasting shadow color, blending very softly or not at all. When done right, the finished look contours and opens up the eye area. The glitter cut crease simply incorporates glitter in the “cut” for a finished look that’s as over-the-top or as subtle as you want.
It’s also really easy to do. Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty shared a mini-tutorial on the glitter cut crease by Haley Wright (@cosmobyhaley) on her Instagram page, and it has instantly taken off all over Instagram.
Wright uses both liquid liner glitter and loose glitter in her look. If you’re new to glitter, we recommend starting off with liner glitter first. It may not deposit as much glitter as you want, but it will give you slightly more control on placement than using loose particles.
Wright also suggests doing your eyes before the rest of your makeup, that way if you experience fall out (which you will), you can easily wipe it off without ruining an excellent contour job on the rest of your face.
