#GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend wants Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes to get together already

We’ve been totally adoring the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign, which calls on Disney to make LGBTQ representation in Disney films a priority. Heck, even Idina Menzel is totally on board. Now, just weeks after the release of Captain America: Civil War, fans are taking to Twitter to implore that Marvel #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend — like Bucky Barnes, for example!

Many have used the hashtag to point out that Marvel has already set up the right chemistry between Captain America/Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes — so just make him come out, already. It may not be 2016 in Captain America’s world, but it is here, so let’s fulfill this Stucky love in the name of representation and make the fandom truly happy!

The hashtag picked up steam yesterday and is still going strong: false false false false false false false false

In fact, Captain America has multiple admirers: false

Naturally, there are *some* people who disagree with the campaign, claiming that Captain America is straight and that to change that would be “pushing an agenda” in a “kids movie”: false false false false

But as always, the Twitter Bucky/Captain shippers have got an answer to all these critiques and more: false false false false false false false

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) are totally on board with GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend, too. “It’s getting increasingly difficult to ignore that LGBT people remain almost completely shut out of Hollywood’s big budget comic films that have dominated the box office over the past couple of years,” Megan Townsend, entertainment media strategist from GLADD, told Yahoo. “[There’s] room for established characters to have backstories built out that we weren’t aware of.”

Come on, Marvel, let’s make this happen. Now we’re just waiting on Chris Evans to voice his support. . . oh, wait, he already has. false

Stucky forever.
