How Girl Scout cookies saved these sisters’ lives

We’re all cheering this weekend as a pair of Michigan sisters who had been lost in the wilderness for almost two weeks were finally rescued. As ABC News reports, sisters Leslie Roy and Lee Marie Wright were on vacation in a remote part of the state when the were stranded inside their SUV by a snowstorm on April 11th. The women tried to call 911, but didn’t have cell phone service after their car became stuck in the deep snow.  After searching the woods for days, a rescue helicopter finally spotted the sisters’ SUV on Friday.

“When we pulled up, they grabbed their purses and Lee Wright clutched onto her Bible and both women were very happy,” Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Jeff Marker told the The Grand Rapids Press. “It was hugs all around.”

So how did these sisters survive almost two weeks alone in the wilderness trapped in their SUV? They subsisted on 8 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and one bag of cheese puffs.

We don’t normally get to give junk food props for much, but this is an exception, good job cookies and cheese puffs, you just saved some lives.
