The girl from ‘The Ring’ is all grown up (and yes, she has a Tumblr)

For those of us who measured our worth by how long we could tough it out during a scary movie, The Ring was pretty hard to get through. It was chock full of jumpscare after jumpscare, not to mention a pulse-pounding baddie in the form of the creepy, bendy evil poltergeist in drastic need of a trip to the hair salon — Samara. Who was able to sleep with the lights off after watching that film for the first time?

Samara haunted everyone’s nightmares after that, so it’s pretty crazy to think that at the time, she was played by relative unknown Daveigh Chase. What you might not know is that prior to donning the white nightgown, she also lent her voice to the character of Lilo in both Lilo & Stitch movies, and made a full commitment to Sparkle Motion as Samantha in Donnie Darko and its sequel S. Darko.

Her other relatively well-known role was in Big Love, where she played the child bride of a polygamist prophet who had her eye secretly set on stardom.

It’s kind of ironic that Daveigh wouldn’t have even gotten into acting in the first place if it hadn’t been for an appropriately timed car accident that left her and her mom stranded in Los Angeles. Inspired to act by watching her favorite show at the time – Barney & Friends – she started going on auditions, and the rest is history.

So what is the girl from The Ring up to now? Well she’s been making huge waves on the Internet this week after Buzzfeed dug up her Tumblr and Instagram. It appears Daveigh is all grown up and super active on social media.

Based on her Insta and Tumblr (cleverly titled Who the F— is Daveigh) , she’s super into cats, Nirvana and Poe.

In terms of her next gig, she’s got a role in a thriller called American Romance, but it looks like she’s definitely grown out of her terrifying phase. “I just want to make something that I love and people will respect,” she told Interview magazine. “I want to do things that will change someone’s life, not something they’ll forget about tomorrow.”

Basically, she seems like any other cool 24-year-old who just happened to star in a blockbuster horror movie that made us sleep with the lights on for months.
