Whoa: This girl was ALSO accepted into all 8 Ivies

Guys, the class of 2019 is seriously going to rock the world. A few days ago we heard about Harold Ekeh, the student from Queens who made it into all eight Ivy League schools — well it turns out he’s not the only one to rock the admissions game this year! Right on his heels is Minnesota high school student Munira Khalif, who also just got accept into all eight Ivies. The 18-year-old student says that the acceptances started coming in on March 31 of this year, and, in the past week and a half, they just kept piling up until she was making history.

“I’m very excited, of course,” she said in a statement to the Star Tribune. “I think I’m still in that state of disbelief.”

And what school wouldn’t be lucky to take Munira? She’s incredibly passionate about everything she is involved in, including a nonprofit campaign to make education accessible to East African youth, becoming a state speech champion, and winning one of the nine coveted U.N. Special Envoy for Global Education’s Youth Courage Awards. In her time at school, she’s already raised thousands of dollars for worthy causes, all while taking enough AP classes to make your head spin. She says that among them, her favorites are the social sciences, particularly history. Maybe a potential major? Well, first thing’s first — she still has to pick one of the many, many awesome schools she has to choose from.

Munira, the daughter of Somali immigrants, says that although she is very excited, she is also humbled by the acceptances.

“When I was growing up, my mom told me her own story of growing up in Somalia. My grandfather was a very revolutionary man in that he not only wanted to educate his sons, but also his daughters,” she said. “My mom got that opportunity and passed that opportunity on to me. It put me in a position where I thought I had to give back.”

So what’s next? I propose a road trip for Munira’s and Harold’s families so they can pick out the schools they love together. I mean,what are the odds that two kids are ever going to get accepted everywhere in the same year like this again? Congrats to Munira, for joining the proud and few people to conquer college admissions — no matter where she goes, we can’t wait to see what she does next!
