Gina Rodriguez’s definition of self-love is beautiful and so necessary right now
Self-love and self-care are vital. It’s not an indulgence to consider your well-being. Self-care and self-love can mean many things to different people. For some it’s a standing appointment with a therapist; for some it’s a pedicure; for others, it’s simply looking in the mirror, smiling, and reciting an affirmation.
Actress Gina Rodriguez has a very simple yet profound definition of the phrase. It’s one we can get behind. Earlier today, Rodriguez tweeted:
"I self love. I turn on my heart and give her all to me. I care for every wound on my body and inside I cradle the wounds unseen."
It’s a rare thing for a famous person to be met with love on Twitter, but this specific status is cutting right to the hearts of her fans.
With everything happening in the U.S., in Barcelona, and around the world, it’s important to take care of yourself so you can extend that love outwards.
Actually, Rodriguez says it best.
“Self care is not only essential to your health and joy but to your capacity to serve others,” she tweeted. false
Rodriguez also got real with Latina magazine in 2016 about being kind to yourself.
“When the negativity comes in, talk to yourself,” she told the magazine. “Remember that fear always exists between your two ears. Should someone say something negative to you, remind yourself that ‘hurt people hurt people’ and turn the other cheek. Decide to protect yourself from that demon that wants to drag you down and not enjoy the life and body you have been given.”
We couldn’t agree more.
