“Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez had the most refreshing thing to say about shaving her head
Gina Rodriguez took Hollywood by storm with her breakout role of the hit CW show Jane the Virgin and continues to blow us away with her acting chops. On the show that earned the 32-year old actress a Golden Globe win, she plays a religious twenty-something and sports long, luxurious locks; so when she surprised the world with a half-shaved head for a role in the upcoming action-thriller, everyone was SHOCKED.
In an interview with Latina, Rodriguez opens up about the chop heard ’round the world and how it shouldn’t define her as a person.
“I am not my beauty. Who I am is not my hair, and to be an actor is to transform.”

Gina also said of the transformation, “To represent a community is to commit, to give my entire all. So if I’m going to represent Latinos in the industry and in art, if I’m going to represent my little cousins in Chicago, they’re going to know that I went full out. Who are we afraid of? What are we afraid of? The worst thing that can happen is we die. Anything else you can handle.”
