16 behind-the-scenes pictures of the “Gilmore Girls” premiere you need to see

Sometimes in life, you are presented with a magical opportunity that you just have to jump at and run with it. That happened to be last week when HelloGiggles was invited to not only attend the world premiere of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but we were invited to stand on the red blue carpet for the premiere, too. You mean, get up close and personal with the stars of Gilmore Girls from yesterday, AND today? OMG, YAS.

Maybe you followed along with my social media coverage Friday night (live from the blue carpet), and if you missed that, no worries. There are still a ton of pictures and fun Gilmore Girls tidbits that I can share with you right now — and these are all behind-the-scenes pictures from the carpet, so doubtful you’ve seen them already (unless you were on the carpet with me, and I just didn’t see you, and I’m so sorry).

If you’re invited to a ~fancy~ Netflix premiere, you get a ~fancy~ valet parking pass, so that’s cool.

The premiere took place at the Fox Bruin Theater over in Westwood. It was pretty cool. It was also crazy because when I arrived at 4:30 pm (roughly two and a half hours before the premiere even started) the area was already PACKED with fans.

In case you wanna see what a red blue carpet looks like, this is it. Pretty cool, huh? (And yes, that’s Vanessa Marano, aka April, and her sister, Laura)

You can’t hear it (because this is a picture, silly) but the second the stars hit the red carpet, the fans behind this beautiful blue wall just went NUTS. Here we have John Cabrera (who plays Brian) trying to talk over the screams behind him.

Everyone’s favorite Paris, Liza Weil, was all-smiles all-night.

At one point, Yanic Truesdale stopped to apply chapstick, and as soon as he was done he proclaimed something along the lines like, “I feel beautiful.” I wanted to yell back YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

On the carpet, I was standing next to KTLA, who had brought along pictures from the first season for comparison.

Kelly Bishop immediately knew the image was from the first season, because her hair was “very red.”

Also, little known fact — jk, everyone knows this — but Kelly Bishop is an irl sass queen and we love her even more.

The Life and Death Brigade were together again, and they were all about the selfies.

Off in the corner, I spotted fashion queen Rachel Antonoff (who has a new line of Gilmore Girls shirts coming out THIS IS IMPORTANT).

Know who was rocking one of these new Gilmore Girls shirts? Mae Whitman, who was there as Lauren Graham’s other TV daughter (and who has a part in A Year in the Life, too!!).

Also, let’s talk about the Gilmore Girls Queen herself, Amy Sherman-Palladino. And let’s specifically talk about her Lady and the Tramp clutch, OMG.

Before I even knew it, the carpet was over, and it was time to head into the theater and watch the first episode of A Year in the Life, “Winter.” NO SPOILERS, promise. But look who was sitting behind me in the theater (and I promise I wasn’t laughing real hard at all the Kirk moments during the episode just because you were behind me, Sean Gunn. The Kirk moments were really that funny).

In all, it was an absolutely magical night, and I can’t wait to talk with you everyone about all four episodes of A Year in the Life!
