Oh, so THIS is why Kirk has a pig during “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”
It’s been roughly three days since the Gilmore Girls revival hit Netflix, and we’re still trying to process everything that’s going down in Stars Hollow. We love seeing so many familiar faces in the land of Gilmore! But there are a few NEW faces hanging out at the gazebo and Luke’s Diner, too. Most notably, Kirk’s pet pig.
Yep, you read that right. An actual PIG.
We first caught a glimpse of Kirk with his new porcine pet in the trailer. TBH we weren’t all THAT surprised, because this is Kirk we’re talking about here. Still, we had questions. SO MANY QUESTIONS.
First, what is this pig’s name? Is it Kirk? Because who could forget the time Kirk adopted a cat and named it after himself?!
Spoiler alert: the pig’s name isn’t Kirk. Which is probably a good thing, considering the…um…tense relationship Kirk had with his cat. It was bad, guys. This pig is much better, and Kirk seems to really love it, and her name is Petal. Awwww.
We never imagined how perfectly this pig would fit into Stars Hollow. She goes everywhere with Kirk, and somehow it actually seems totally normal. But we know what you’re thinking…
WHY???? I mean, pigs are cute and everything. George Clooney even has one. Still…
The explanation is simple. It seems the residents of our favorite fictional town were worried that Kirk and Lulu might have a baby, so they all chipped in and bought them a baby pig instead, believing that it bought them at least “three years” before Kirk and Lulu thought about having kids again. We get it, Stars Hollow. Kirk is awesome, but more than one of him might be too much for any town to handle.
Also, tiny baby pigs are off-the-charts adorable.
