11 things we can do to fill the void in our lives now that “Gilmore Girls” is over

I don’t want to admit it, but I think I have to: Gilmore Girls is finally, and sadly, over.

For the last 11 months — and this is not an exaggeration — I wrote 200+ Gilmore Girls stories, ranging from behind-the-scenes Instagram posts, to fancy tidbits about the revival series, and even documented every single time Netflix even made the slightest adjustment to the Gilmore Girls landing page. I covered it all. Everything. And now Gilmore Girls is over and…I’m not sure what to do now. I feel a little bit lost and confused, like Kirk trying to find his way home at the end of the day.

Now what?

It feels like I’ve got SO MUCH free time on my hands now, because I don’t have to comb Instagram every single night for cool Gilmore Girls stuff you guys should buy. Over the past two weeks, as Gilmore Girls started to wind down, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do next, and I’ve come up with this list:

1Focus all my attention on getting “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” Season 2 made

It’s one of these things where I just assume if I complain loudly about it for long enough of a time, Netflix has to cave and give it to me. Right?

2Focus all my attention on getting another canceled television show rebooted on Netflix

Have you heard of a show called Happy Endings?

3Focus all my attention on getting another one of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s canceled TV shows rebooted on Netflix

…have you heard of a show called Bunheads?

4Call my mom

My mom is actually a big Gilmore Girls fan, and consider it to be one of the last “wholesome” shows on television. She actually watched the revival faster than I did (and then tried to [accidentally!] text me spoilers). Lorelai would want me to call my mom, and a lot more often, now that Gilmore Girls is over.

5Focus all my attention on politics

TBH, I feel like I missed like, 80% of all politics this last year because I was busy trying to figure out Paris Geller’s job in the future. Maybe I should start paying attention to politics now?

6Learn a new craft

For some reason, I feel like I should take up knitting. Not so I can join any upcoming knit-a-thon or anything, but just because I feel like this is something Lorelai and Rory would want me to do. It’s either knitting or sewing, and knitting feels like it would be way more fun, and way more useful during the cold winter months.

7Became an A+ coffee connoisseur

Not that I’m not this already (I am, considering I’m pushing 3+ cups of coffee day), but maybe I should learn how to make those cool designs on the top of coffee with foam and cinnamon. Do you think that would impress Luke?

8Eat healthy

JK lol no. Pass.

9Train show dogs to do tricks

And in the sprit of Paul Anka, dress them up in fun costumes and THEN make them do tricks!!

10Slowly transform into my final form: Emily Gilmore

It’s just about time I throw caution to the wind, and become this sassy, no-regrets lady. Maybe I’ll buy a house on Martha’s Vineyard and start wearing comfy slip on-shoes, who knows!!? The world is my oyster.

11Go back to what I was doing before Gilmore Girls

Oh, what was I doing before my life became completely consumed with Gilmore Girls? I was watching the OG Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Just like how the revival taught us that life comes full circle, so do my Gilmore Girls binges. Boot up the Netflix, “The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton” it is!!
