Gigi Hadid says it’s her sister Bella who reminds her to slow down and take time for self-care
Life in the limelight is hard, which is why Gigi Hadid turns to sister Bella Hadid when she needs to slow down and focus on herself. The supermodel might be a major powerhouse in the modeling world, but she’s never forgotten her family and their ability to totally get her.
Hadid is the June/July cover star for Harper’s Bazaar, and during her interview, she got real about the demands of her career choice. Despite being a seasoned model at this point, the 22-year-old model admitted that she still needs help from her baby sis, Bella.
“She’s so understanding of the demands of this job, and it’s really great that I can talk to her about it because a lot of the time I feel suffocated by my own work ethic and by the expectations I put on myself. It’s really nice when you have people who say, ‘It’s okay to take time for yourself,’” Hadid told Harper’s Bazaar.
The California native revealed she is lucky to have Bella as her sister and best friend, especially in her line of work.
With all of the travel and the pressures that come with being a successful model, Hadid has learned that not every friendship will last.
When you have a career like this, Hadid notes that “a lot of interesting things in friends come out. So in a way, it’s good because you learn that it’s better to have a few really good friends than tons of friends you aren’t really sure about.”
“There are people who understand that I love them and who know that when I get back to town I’m going to call them, but sometimes I can’t call every day because I’m in weird places,” she continued.
"I've lost a lot of friends because I'll get busy for a short period of time, and they’re not reaching out, but if I don't reach out, then it's like I've changed."
That being said, the blonde beauty isn’t interested in new friends.
“The time I do have off, it’s not even enough to give everyone I love attention. I’m good with [the friends] I’ve got,” she said.
Plus, she has the ever-so-dreamy Zayn Malik as her boyfriend. So, clearly, Hadid isn’t struggling for friends or loved ones!
