The “Ghostbusters” stars singing a cappella should be the song of the summer

We’re counting down the days until the female-led Ghostbusters hits theaters, and we couldn’t be more excited. For months and months, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones (even male director Paul Feig) have been subject to hate from people who think the cast is ruining the remake of the classic comedy. To which we say: not cool. The film is good enough for Bill Murray and Chris Hemsworth (and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!), so it should be good enough for anybody.

The fearless foursome recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show for a fun, silly, and insightful conversation. At one point during the night, Feig joined the conversation via satellite video and issued a challenge to McCarthy and Wiig.

“Since we are all in the business of ruining men’s childhoods, Kristen and Melissa came up with this way to really enrage men which they thought would be to do the folk lady version of ‘Ghostbusters,’” Feig said, referencing the movie’s famous theme song.

Apparently, this a cappella version of the theme is something Wiig and McCarthy came up with while filming the remake. And you know what? We kiiind of like it more than the original. They harmonize on vocals for a beat, and then expertly sing the song’s famous hook. It’s folky for sure!
