A liiiiiittle bit more information about the lady ‘Ghostbusters’ movie
Updates keep rolling in on the totally awesome, women-focused Ghostbusters movie! The film is shooting in Boston, giving us plenty of set photos and updates from producer Paul Feig himself. But as of yesterday we have some excellent casting news, with four more people signed onto the project.
Who are the new names? Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Cecily Strong, and Matt Walsh. Garcia, who has starred in films we love like The Untouchables and Ocean’s Eleven, will be playing the Mayor of New York. The Wire‘s Michael Kenneth Williams, who is also in the upcoming IFC series The Spoils Before Dying, will star as a character named Hawkins. Matt Walsh, of Veep and the Upright Citizens Brigade, will be playing Rourke.
Although officially part of the project, Strong’s role is as-of-yet unconfirmed.
These latest additions will be joining an already amazing cast. Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth — basically, we cannot wait for this film to hit theaters. Sadly, we have over a year to wait — the film has a set release date of July 22, 2016. Say it ain’t so!
