Get the Look: ‘New Girl’ Season 4, Tonight’s Premiere!

As summer winds to a close, we are once again back on the Fox lot shooting season four of New Girl. As a makeup artist on New Girl, in the beginning of every season, I like to change-up Zooey’s makeup. Not enough that anyone would notice (excluding all makeup lovers!) but just enough to keep her look fresh and inspiring.

For the first episode of this season, we were lucky enough to have Jessica Biel as our guest star. She was lovely, and we all wished she could stay on with us for the rest of the season!

Check out the following for how to get the look for both Zooey and Jessica’s characters in episode one of season 4.

Zooey as Jess in “The Last Wedding”

Skin Prep

I started with Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer and Sunscreen. While I let that work its way into the skin, I like to begin with the eyes.

Eyes

I start with a light eye moisturizer–John Masters Organics Rose and Apricot Day Cream.

Rather than an eye primer, I like using Tarte Creaseless Concealer on her eyelids and under the eyes as well. On the eyelids, I used DIORSHOW Fusion Mono in color.

Then Meteore over that; a thin layer of Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in metallic gilded gold.

For eyeliner, I used Make Up Forever Cake Eyeliner in black; also using MAC Precise Eye Liner Brush, applying on the upper lash line and swooping slightly down on the outer eye rather than up.

On top of that, I smudged the line with a NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in skorpios.

Under the eyes, I lined the bottom with lash line with Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Liner in black; then I lined the table of her eyes with Hourglass film noir in eclipse.

Mascara is the one thing I can say we have not changed: L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Volume-Building Mascara in black.

Complexion

I then use a mixture of Armani Luminous Foundation in number 2 and 4 and Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer in bare radiance. I finish her complexion with By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder. On set, I use Armani Pressed number 2 for touch-ups.

Cheeks

For the cheeks, I used NARS The Multiple Cream Blush in Maui, then topped that with Charlotte Tilbury Powder Blush in ecstasy.

Lips

I used a MAC lip pencil in chicory and glossed them with MAC Lustreglass in instant gold.

Jessica Biel as Kat in “The Wedding”

For Jessica’s look we were thrilled to have makeup artist Carri Hamilton available to execute a winning look!

Skin Prep

She used Embryolisse Hydra-mat Emulsion.

Complexion

She applied Jane Iredale Mineral Based BB Cream, with a Beauty Blender all over. Concealed where needed with Cle De Peau.

Eyes

Carri prepped her lids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, then followed by Jane Iredale’s Eye Shadow Kit in daytime. Keeping her eyes very natural with earthy tones, Carri applied a thin-winged black liner with Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in black ink. With two coats of black mascara. (No need for false lashes, her lashes are extremely long and thick!)

Cheeks

Carri used a DIOR pink/brown blush on the apples of her cheeks.

Lips

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in damned with Rosebud Salve for moisture.

Enjoy season 4 of New Girl, everyone!
