Get to Know: Lennon Parham
There are very few shows that accurately capture the depth and beauty of female friendship. Playing House (premiering Tuesday April 29th at 10/9c on USA Network) is a rare gem that gets it right. Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair co-star as childhood best friends Maggie Caruso and Emma Crawford, who have shared countless adventures growing up together in the charming town of Pinebrook, CT. Now, Maggie and Emma are in store for one of their biggest adventures – raising a baby.
But let’s give you a little background on our charming mother-to-be. When Maggie lost both of her parents, she married her now-husband Bruce, a choice that made a lot of sense at the time. She’s now eight months pregnant with their baby and anxious about getting the nursery ready in time…and about becoming a mother. Bruce isn’t really pulling his weight and their marriage seems to be sliding downhill. She really misses her best friend, Emma, who lives in Shanghai and is always working. When Maggie discovers her husband having an illicit online affair with a muscular German woman, she decides she needs to go about raising her child on her own. It helps that her bold bestie Emma comes to town right when things fall apart and pushes her to move on, while selflessly offering to help her through all of it.
The role of Maggie requires a relatable softness and vulnerability that Lennon seems to easily access. And this is nothing new for her, because the woman is a Hollywood veteran. Here are some projects you might know her from: she has appeared in the cast of Accidentally on Purpose opposite Jenna Elfman and has had memorable guest appearances on Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development, Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, as well as Children’s Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV. Additionally, this is the second collaborative series from Parham and her writing partner and co-star, Jessica St. Clair. Their first series, Best Friends Forever, aired in 2012.
You just realized that Lennon has been in all your favorite shows, didn’t you? Get ready to add Playing House to that ‘favorites’ list! The new comedy series premieres Tuesday, April 29th at 10/9c on USA Network.
