Germany is telling everyone to destroy this doll for a very creepy reason

German parents have been told to destroy the “My Friend Cayla” doll, and we’re thinking it’s a good idea. Why would we suggest destroying such a cute doll? Well, because the European country thinks that the plastic friend could be hacking a ton of personal information from families.

OMG, what??

According to the Federal Network Agency, the Genesis Toy has an embedded microphone and asks children questions about themselves and their parents — making it a “hidden espionage device!”

Dressed in a jean jacket and pink skirt, the Cayla dolls have been quite the rabble rouser in the industry. In December, the dolls also came under fire by the Electronic Privacy Information Center for violating privacy rules!

Who knew an innocent looking doll could cause this much trouble?

Apparently, the dolls can record conversations, transmitting audio files to a remote server without parental consent. Moreover, they’re vulnerable to hacking, which means you might never know who is listening in to your child.

Sounds pretty creepy, right?!

Well, with more homes becoming “smarter” by the day, having our privacy at risk is the norm. Sure, products like Amazon Echo and smart phones are cool to have and can even make day-to-day activities a little easier. But, they totally have the potential to leak some pretty private details.

Living in the electronic age definitely comes with a few consequences, even when it comes to adorable toys!
