George Michael’s partner released a heartbreaking statement, and our hearts go out to him so much

It’s been two days since legendary musician George Michael died, and we’re honestly still processing the loss of such a tremendous talent. Countless messages of love, sadness, and condolences have poured in from all over the world on social media, and George Michael’s partner has just released a statement.

George Michael had been with hairstylist and photographer Fadi Fawaz for several years, and in a statement for The Daily Telegraph Fawaz said, “We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch. I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed. We don’t know what happened yet.”

Then, in a super heartbreaking moment, he went on to say, "I want people to remember him the way he was. He was a beautiful person.

Fawaz also posted the following message to his Twitter account and changed his profile picture to one of the pair kissing.

There are so many things that make our hearts break about this story. That Michael was found alone by his partner, that it happened on Christmas Day, and that the world has lost a great artist and human. We cannot imagine the heartbreak Fawaz must be feeling right now.

However, we’re going to try our best to take his words to heart and remember George Michael as the “beautiful person” he was. He was a passionate activist for the LGBTQ+ community and was known for so very many anonymous acts of kindness.

That’s how we’ll remember you, George. And as one of our all time favorite pop stars, of course.
