Why the entire Internet is talking about this lady and her coffee
Last week, writer Genevieve V. Georget posted on Facebook about a brief encounter she had with her barista 6 years ago. Since her story went up, it’s been shared over 100,000 times and liked by over 200,000 people.
“Whoa. Wait, what? Getting coffee is such a normal and boring thing, how does someone grabbing their morning caffeine fix rack up that crazy kind of viral mileage?” you’re probably asking at this point. Well, let us explain.
The encounter itself was pretty simple. Genevieve, while grabbing her coffee, was asked by her barista what she was up to that day. Genevieve explained that she and her husband were about to catch a flight to Italy and the barista wished her a nice trip, adding “But then again, why wouldn’t you…your life is golden!”
The barista’s innocent words rattled Genevieve hard. Genevieve totally understood why the barista thought her life was “golden.” As she explains in her post:
However, as Genevieve reveals, in this case, her appearance was absolutely deceiving.
Genevieve didn’t bare all to her barista, but she spent the entirety of her flight wondering “…about our sense of authenticity…our collective vulnerability…our polished identity. And it made me feel like a total fraud.”
