Dear Gala Galactic,

How can I, as a Gemini sun and Scorpio moon, find a little more balance and inner peace?

Love,
Double Trouble

Dear Double Trouble,

I have some difficult news for you: it appears you were born under the signs of war and communication, under planets where both balance and peace are in short supply. There’s good news, of course, wherever bad news is found. The first good news is: you thrive under difficulty, and states of imbalance are fertile creative ground for you. When you are overcome with more discord than most people can imagine, you make of that discord a manual—you mine it for clues and use it to your advantage—for growth. Your Gemini sun consumes information, even painful information, as an emotional resource. For you, all mistakes are keys rather than failures, all disorientation is a chance at nuance and expanding definitions. Even when you dissociate, you are learning. Your spirit hovers over you, a student and a seeker.

Your Scorpio moon, on the other hand, endures the clever chaos of your mind and calls you home to the place where all knowledge began—your body. Your Scorpio moon is a vessel brimming with Kundalini energy: primal, erotic, cosmic, and incarnate. While Gemini rules the hands, Scorpio rules the sex organs. A Scorpio moon is obsessive, sensual, and exacting. A Scorpio moon has x-ray vision. Like a snake, it feels deep into the earth; like an eagle, it has seen beyond the boundary of where life thrives and lived there. Here, a balance is struck between knowing that is experiential and knowing that is biblical. As in “I knew them biblically,” as in—let us make a departure from the sacred texts of men and read the texts of our erotic connections instead. As in the enduring words of Sappho: “What is not said will be wept.”

Sit with this good news, Double Trouble, and take time to consider it because it will serve you as you move forward. If what you seek is inner peace and balance, you’ll have to accept that those states, especially for a Gem-Scorp like you, are a constant work rather than a destination.

The other good news is that both your sun sign and your moon sign love to transform. While Gemini is mutable and seeks outside information in order to relate to the self, Scorpio is fixed and regards their wounds as one might regard ancient trees in one’s backyard—with respect, attention, and awe. Together, these signs have an incredible aptitude for regeneration and therapy is a great tool for you—especially the kind of therapy that uses physical modalities, like EMDR or Somatic Experiencing. Vipassanā meditation, too, can open doors in you that your obsessive qualities might otherwise obscure, doors that allow the air inside you to circulate and become sustaining breath rather than dark fog. The goal of Vipassanā is awareness and equanimity, I am told, and these are states that a Gem-Scorp hungers for after a night of splitting into multiples selves.

There are other practices, of course, and I trust that you will explore them because you are curious and a good detective. Whatever you come to, don’t forget that your corporeal self is as real and sacred as your spirit self—as wise and in need of balance as your mind and heart.

Love,
Gala Galactic
