Here’s how Gary Oldman really feels about JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon
If you got obsessed with Batman thanks to Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, you likely think of Batman’s sincere cop friend, Commissioner Gordon, as none other than Oscar-winner Gary Oldman. His worn-down-by-life-but-heart-of-gold portrayal was nothing short of heroic, so some fans were disappointed that the role would be taken by another actor for the upcoming Justice League.
But when that actor is JK Simmons, Oldman has no beef.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Gary Oldman, discussed his excitement over fellow Oscar-winner J.K Simmons taking over the role of Commissioner Gordon. Gordon’s role in Justice League is small, but Simmons plans to be a part of a solo Batman movie, which features Gordon more frequently.
What does Oldman have to say about all of this?
"J.K Simmons doesn't need any advice from me. He's a wonderful actor."
Oldman graciously admitted he’s really looking forward to seeing his successor in the role.
"I'm intrigued to see what he does with it," said the English actor.

Fans appear excited about the role of Gordon under Simmons.
The DC Extended Universe Franchise (DCEU) published their plans for 2020, which include a large list of films. In particular, Wonder Woman, Justice League Part I, The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Justice League 2, Cyborg and Green Lantern are all in the lineup. Moreover, director, Zack Snyder is adding his own storytelling, and own twists to the DCEU, for his Justice League and Wonder Woman films.
From what we know of Justice League, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit a team to fight evil. But how will the ally and police commissioner feel about handling THAT many superheroes around his town? We don’t know yet, but the involvement of Commissioner Gordon is definitely exciting.

The Batman character has been played by many actors, but Oldman’s sincerity made a huge mark. And the role meant a lot to the actor, himself. As Oldman himself said:
"Gordon was very good to me so I wish him a lot of luck. I'm excited for him."
Justice League will hit theaters on November 17th, 2017.
