This “Game of Thrones” theory might REALLY confirm that Gendry is coming back

Before we even get started, I’m going to warn you that there are spoilers for Season 7 of Game of Thrones ahead.

We’ve been talking about the potential return of a particular long-lost character for years now, but it seems that Gendry might *finally* be reappearing on Game of Thrones soon. The last remaining bastard of Robert Baratheon hasn’t been seen since he rowed away from Dragonstone in Season 3, after being saved from certain death by Ser Davos.

Since Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry on the hit series, arrived at the Season 7 premiere in Los Angeles, we stopped wondering if we’d see Gendry again and began asking when we’d see him.

But in the ultimate Chekhov’s gun scenario, it seems Gendry will return to the show with a callback to Season 1 and his roots as a blacksmith — which Jon Snow is about to need.

Last week, Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow *finally* met, and while they’re not BFFs yet, the two seem to be realizing that an alliance is the only way for both of them to (potentially) get what they want. In “The Queen’s Justice”, Dany allowed Jon to mine for dragonglass under Dragonstone, which will be crucial in his fight against the White Walkers.

Now, it’s great that Jon will be rolling in materials and all but WHO is going to forge the weapons for him?

IDK, maybe the most talented blacksmith in all of Westeros?

If you remember back in Season 1, Gendry was working as an apprentice to Tobho Mott, one of the few blacksmiths who knew how to work with Valyrian steel. While we don’t know if Mott taught Gendry *all* his secrets of the trade, we do know that Ned Stark was impressed with Gendry’s work. Sure, it could have been a throwaway compliment, but this is GoT and little details like this always mean something.

Hopefully we’ll learn where Gendry rowed after leaving Dragonstone soon so he can meet his bastard brother in arms and save Westeros from the White Walkers. Fingers crossed we’ll learn more on Sunday.
