As if we wouldn’t notice, “Game of Thrones” just reused an actor *again*

Did you happen to do a double-take seeing one of the gold cloaks giving Ser Davos trouble in King’s Landing during Game of Thrones‘ “Eastwatch”? Did you think the actor behind one of those gold cloaks, Kevin Eldon, looked awfully familiar? Well, there’s good reason for that. Because Eldon has appeared on the show before!
Eldon previously appeared in Game of Thrones Season 6 as Camello.
He was one of actors at the Braavos theater where Arya saw a comedic performance of all the craziness that had gone down in King’s Landing, and played Ned Stark in the spoof.
The revelation comes via Reddit user StonedWooki3, who asked, “Anyone else notice they reused an actor?”
Other users — like KevinCelantro — were quick to respond, and with jokes at that.
“He lost his job as an actor and had to move to King’s Landing to find work, thankfully the gold cloaks were hiring after the big homeland security push because some radicalized Lord of Light followers blew up the Sept of Baelor,” KevinCelantro wrote. “Now you have to take off your shoes before you board a boat to Oldtown, but don’t worry this will all be explained in the books.”
And this isn’t the first time Game of Thrones has reused an actor. Dean-Charles Chapman appeared as both Tommen Baratheon and Martyn Lannister.
But back to the gold cloak, who met an unfortunate end…
How did StonedWooki3 notice that Eldon had previously appeared? The user explained that it was all in Eldon’s grin: “The fellas smile gave it away, straight away knew the one place we’ve seen that dumb grin before.”
Well, guess we’ll have to be keeping a closer eye on expressions when Game of Thrones returns with Season 7’s penultimate episode this Sunday.
