How the “Game of Thrones” producers tricked this actor into thinking he was being killed off

As we all know, no one is safe on Game of Thronesnot even our favorite characters. So, if you’re an actor on the show your day-to-day probably involves a little bit of concern over whether you’ll make it through the season or not.

And because showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are merciless, they tried to pull a shocking prank on Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) while filming Season 2 by giving him a fake script where his character “dies.”

According to an interview Allen did with Entertainment Weekly, he received a finale script that had Bran Stark stabbing Theon in the heart saying, “This is my Winterfell, not yours.” (Yikes, Bran!)

But being the good sport that he is, Allen assumed this was his “goodbye” to the show and didn’t make a stink about it to the producers. In fact, he thought “it was cool.”

And much like his conciliatory character, Reek (née Theon) Allen accepted what he thought was his fate and carried on with life. He continued, “I went on a holiday, and David and Dan (D.B.) were all thinking I was going to call up going, ‘Hold on a minute whoa-whoa-whoa!’ But I just got on with it.” Awwwwww.

Sounds like the showrunners’ little prank sorta backfired on them though because according to Allen, “They had to make it clear to me later on it was all a joke.”

We can just picture the texts from David and D.B. like, “JK! JK! JK!”. (Because showrunners probably text like that, right? ?)
