This “Game of Thrones” director says Jon Snow wasn’t catfished after all
It’s confirmed: Ramsay Bolton has two definite skills. One is torturing and murdering people in gruesome and unexpected ways. And the other is that, as it turns out, is scary letter writing.
So far I haven’t really revealed any crazy Game of Thrones season 6 spoilers, but we’re about to talk some serious details so be aware if you’re not caught up on the series yet. And, if you don’t want to read spoilers, here’s a parting gift of a baby Ghost meeting a young Jon Snow so you can go about your day happily.
You’re welcome.
Now back to Ramsay Bolton and those scary letter writing skills. We now know for sure that the (now infamous) gruesome and detailed letter that arrived in Castle Black was written by Ramsay himself. Many people suspected that the letter could have been written by someone else who had the same information Ramsay did and wanted to motivate Jon to come take back Winterfell. Specifically, the prevailing fan theory was that it might have been written by the guy from House Umber who brought Rickon to Ramsay, a move many fans think (or at least hope) is all part of an elaborate scheme to retake the North. But Tech Insider got a conclusive answer about the letter’s author from Game of Thrones director Dan Sackheim.
Sackheim said that the letter was most definitely from Ramsay Bolton, telling Tech Insider “This I can tell you without any concern [of spoilers]. That letter was written by Ramsay.” He then added why it definitely has to be from Ramsay, saying “It’s the ignition, or trigger, in terms of them going through the process of taking Winterfell back.”
It’s still entirely possible that other people are very much manipulating the situation and will benefit from Ramsay enticing Jon to come to Winterfell. But, at least for now, we have confirmation that Ramsay really did write the awful letter that will finally get Jon Snow (and Sansa) to come home.
And while that was one of the most exciting things to happen in Castle Black in that episode, if we’re being honest, it was eclipsed by the introduction of our new favorite possible romance. Because while seeing Jon and Sansa take back Winterfell would be amazing, but seeing Brienne of Tarth and Tormund Giantsbane fall in love would be be absolutely life-changing.
