Here’s the introduction to Lady Stoneheart we never got in “Game of Thrones”
Spoiler alert: You can count on this Game of Thrones post to have spoilers as surely as you can count on a Lannister to pay his debts.
The arrival of Lady Stoneheart has been one of the most talked-about moments that has yet to happen in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
And if you’re not acquainted with the character, here’s a quick synopsis: Lady Stoneheart is Catelyn Stark’s revived corpse brought back to life by the Brotherhood Without Banners (which she becomes the leader of). She’s vengeful, she’s tough, and she’s a total zombie badass.
And while there’s a ~slight~ chance she may still make an appearance in the TV series (we can always hope!), she has at least been brought to Westeros in a roundabout way. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, the actor who played (the recently killed) Lem Lemoncloak posted an awesome video on his Twitter. Taken straight from the A Storm of Swords itself, he speaks the dialogue his character Lem says in reference to Lady Stoneheart. And he recites it in the woods, while dressed as Lem, and with a goosebumps-inducing seriousness that makes us feel like she might appear behind him at any moment. false
One of the most heart-warming elements of this otherwise chilling video is the fact that it’s clear Jóhannesson is a fan of the book series itself. His character would have been intimately involved with Lady Stoneheart (were she to exist), and the homage he pays to her (and the book series) is awesome. Even his playful caption of, “Fine! As promised here’s Lem’s great line from A Storm of Swords we didn’t get in the show” is a fun reminder that Lady Stoneheart (whether we’ll see her or not) is fascinating to everybody.
While it’s becoming increasingly less likely that zombie Catelyn will make a (triumphant) onscreen appearance, it’s certainly still possible. The show has been reintroducing characters that we long thought dead all season (The Hound, Benjen Stark). Plus, it has been has really started veering off from the book’s character storylines. So, who knows?
Maybe all signs point to the introduction of this amazing character? Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking because we simply miss our favorite Tully turned Stark.
