There was another major death on “Game of Thrones,” and unfortunately, I will never recover

There are major spoilers ahead for the season finale of Game of Thrones, “The Dragon and the Wolf.” If for some reason you’re here and haven’t watched the episode yet first, leave this place. Secondly, what are you even doing online to begin with? Thirdly, you can watch the episode on HBO Go right now, and you probably should.

The penultimate episode of the season, “Beyond the Wall,” left us grappling with the death (and White Walker rebirth) of Viserion. It was horribly sad, and many — myself included — are still trying to deal with the emotional fallout. The thing is, though, that aside from Viserion, Season 7 has been pretty light on deaths. Sure, we had to bid a fond farewell to Lady Olenna, and said goodbye to the Tarlys, but none of them were by any means a major player in the great game.

Now we know why Season 7 said NOT TODAY to death for the past six episodes. It’s because Game of Thrones was saving everything for the season finale, and OH GOD.

And no, I’m not talking about the epic death of Littlefinger, or the maybe-death of Tormund. I’m talking about how an OG character from the very beginning finally left us. We had to say goodbye to someone who has stood tall and proud, protecting us from all evils, and who was always cool as ice. No, not Brienne or even The Hound. Guys, I’m talking about the Wall.

The Wall came crumbling down. Goodnight, my sweet prince. You might be gone, but you will never be forgotten.

We all knew that eventually it might have to come down, as the White Walkers have been trying to cross over it since the very beginning. Now, thanks to the undead Viserion — who breathes ICY FIRE !!?? — the Wall is…gone.

Or, I really should say *most* of the Wall is gone. Viserion really just took out a big chunk, but it’s enough to let the Army of the Dead pass through to the other side. Which they do.

Oh yeah, also the Night King is riding Viserion, and f that guy.

If you were wondering when Winter was finally going to arrive, safe to say that it is here. Game of Thrones Season 8, on the other hand…well, we’re going to be waiting on that one for a while.
